Background:

👋: Rishav Khanal is part of the founding team behind Old Town Curated. A former employee at LinkedIn and recipient of Virginia Tech’s Award for Outstanding Service, Rishav started this newsletter simply to help Alexandria feel a little more connected and to highlight the people and places that make it special.

Insight:

💡: While building the newsletter, Rishav was having a lot of conversations with readers, small business owners, and, around the same time, with his own accountant. He wasn’t even looking for it, but a pattern started to emerge. Business owners were amazing at what they did, but felt completely overwhelmed by the financial side. Things like setting prices, paying employees fairly, and planning for the future felt like a big guessing game.

Food for thought:

🧠: What started as a few casual conversations over coffee, after client calls, and in between newsletter deadlines turned into something bigger. Rishav and Nick, a local CPA he had been working with, realized they shared the same vision: helping small business owners feel less alone when it came to their finances.

So they created a service to help small businesses get expert money advice without having to hire someone really expensive. It’s not just for tax time. It’s to help business owners grow, make good financial decisions, and keep their businesses strong so they can continue to serve the community.

This new partnership helps in two big ways:

1) Gives local business owners the support they need to grow and keep their businesses strong.
